Sandra Turns One

Here's happy little Sandra for her final of her first year sessions.
For her first birthday session we started off with her party dress.
And moved on to the ballerina tutu with her birthday background
Then changed it up, putting on her birthday hat and adding some balloons
Finally bringing in the birthday cake. Here she is when she was finished with her cake.
Happy Birthday Sandra!

More Dance

This young lady from Medfield High's Class of 2011 missed her dance photos with the dance school this year. Her mom wanted the final year dance photos before she went off to college since she's had them taken every year. She called me and I went out to her home on a Sunday morning for the photo shoot with 12 costume changes. Here are some of the shots we came away with.

Fairy Session & Dress Up Fun

Here's little Miss Nellie having a tea party with Tinkerbelle and her tiny fairy friends

Playing dress up is so much fun

In keeping with the fairy theme here she is again in her fairy wings

A plexiglass mirror was used for these reflection images

We added a butterfly for fun .

A magical Fairy Ball dropped in to say hello

"No, don't go!"
Just like magic!

Nellie had a great time with her photo session. She just had her bedroom done up in a fairy theme so these photos will be a great addition to the theme.

Here's a sample of a storyboard depicting the last few photos.

David's First Birthday

As usual, there was a cake session incorporated at the end of David's First Birthday Session, which is always fun to watch and photograph.

He is such a happy boy!
David loves my camera, so I let him hold onto one while I took his photos with the other.
Though he's starting to take his first steps he isn't quite ready to fly solo. Happy Birthday David!

Families and Fairies

I went back to Stephanie's for a session while her relatives were visiting. Here she is with her brother Steve and little one's John and Matt.

John loves to play on his climbing structure

He also likes to hide among the flowers.

Mat is having fun with this colorful tube.I was amazed at how big he got and how many teeth he has for a 9 month old.
Here's another 9 month old with lots of teeth. (Somehow I don't recall my children having as many at that age.) Here's Sierra who is now mobile.
She doesn't much like hats anymore but I managed this shot before she whipped it off.
It was a lovely morning and since I brought a fairy skirt and wings we went to the backyard to find some fairy orbs. Ok! I'll admit it., I make the orbs in photo shop. She did make the cutest little fairy though.
Here is my favorite in it's original form.
Here is the finished product.
And here - I caught her looking at her finger and thought it would be cute if she caught one. We did manage to slip the floral crown on her head and then distract her so she wouldn't take it off for a few shots.
Happy girl!

Can't wait for her next session - the first birthday session where we'll find out
how much she likes cake.

TWINS

On Saturday I spent a few hours with 3 month old Lila & Patrick for their first photo session.
They did an awesome job and I got some great images of them with their parents, Joe and Sarah, together, and by themselves.
Because they come from an Irish heritage, Sarah asked if I had any St Patrick's Day props. although I did have some at home, I took the opportunity to sew up a beret for Patrick to wear and decorated a white headband with Kelly green trim and a green carnation for Lila to wear , then wrapped them in light green soft fleece fabric, added a green Teddie Beanie Baby. This was one of my favorites of the 2 of them together.

While Lila ate, we worked on some individual images of Patrick.
I always like to use baseball props for baby boys. What little guy doesn't dream of playing ball at some point.

Once Lila was finished eating we worked on getting some images of her with a collection of items that begin with the letter "B" (which I noticed after the fact). I was going for a Ballerina theme with the tutu, added the headband with a butterfly clip, some pink beads and a baby bear for her to hold. Many things that little girls dream of.
I played around with color on these next 2. The one below I desaturated just a bit leaving a light pink hue.
This one is a selective color as I desaturated the color from the entire image before bringing back just a hint of pink in specific area. Which do you prefer?
I had a couple of Teddie bear hats that we used for a few shots of the twins together

Mom liked my baby in the nest images so I brought the nest props even though these 2 are older than the last baby I photographed in the nest. I really loved the outcome of these images.

They look like a couple of baby birds ready to fly the coop. In the image below it gives me the sense that they are either protesting for their food or cheering for their favorite team. I any event I loved the results of this and all of their images.

Evan's first photo session

Here's 3 month old Evan with his mom and dad in his debute photo session

i brought along my teddy and the teddy ear hat which he looked very cute in.
Looking like a big boy in his striped shirt and his little sneakers, one of which he kicked off pretty quickly.
After a bottle he fell fast asleep giving us the opportunity for some sleeping baby images.
At a 6 month session or after you rarely get images of a baby while sleeping so i like to try to catch these precious images when I can.
So sweet!
