Portraits in the Park

During my Arizona vacation, I set aside a day for a couple of photo sessions.

Catherine had a photo session with me a few years back when she came to Boston for a visit. Since she is now a "Tween" she wanted some updates photos. The last photo session was a fairy theme and a bit childish for the young lady she's become.

We went to a local park with a great backdrop complete with some lovely landscaping, a pond and waterfall.

Here are some of the images we came away with.

At the same location, 2 year old Joshua had his first photo session.

With this age group, we are working with a limited attention span.
The session starts off with the child and i getting to know each other a little at which time I will sometimes get a couple of faces that look like this one while the child tries to figure me out.

Once the child establishes that I'm ok, and I get a few smiles, mom will position him where I ask and I'll play peek a boo behind the camera for a few smiles.

At this point the child is usually getting antsy and wants to move around so we go into a round of mostly candid shots while I follow the child around.

The entire session usually lasts 45 - 60 minutes

Majella's Garden

My friend Majella got what is most likely the final outdoor photo session of 2010 last Friday afternoon at Millennium Park. We got there just as the sum was beginning to set and took some lovely family shots of her with the 2 children.

She wanted some single poses of Aidan
and then some of Aiden with sister Erin who has been photographed by me a few times for dance photos, First Communion photos and in a before and after session when she donated her hair to Locks of Love last year as well as her family session last year around this time.
A final family pose in front of an evergreen which Erin thought would be a good pose for Christmas Cards. I think she may be right.
